Strict Nut-Free Policy

To ensure the safety of all children in our care, particularly those with severe, life-threatening anaphylactic allergies, Ruwad Muscat International School is a strictly Nut-Free Campus. Our catering providers are prohibited from using peanuts, tree nuts, or nut-based oils in any meal preparations. Parents sending home-packed lunches are also required to adhere to this guideline.

Allergen Control & Customizations

We work closely with parents of students with documented food allergies or medical conditions (such as celiac disease or dairy intolerance). If your child requires a customized allergen-free meal plan, please contact the school clinic counselor to submit the medical forms. Our catering partner will prepare and pack these special meals separately to prevent cross-contamination.

Healthy Eating & Nutrition Guidelines

Our menus are strictly formulated following the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health guidelines. We focus on:

  • Zero use of deep-frying methods (all meals are baked or steamed).
  • No processed meats (such as hot dogs, nuggets, or canned meats).
  • No carbonated drinks, high-sugar packaged juices, or artificial colorings.
  • Using whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat pasta) and minimizing added sugar and sodium.

How do I register my child for the school lunch plan?
Parents can register their children for the school lunch plan through the Parent Portal or by filling out the Catering Registration Form available at the school reception desk. Registration should ideally be completed at least one week prior to the start of each term.
Can my child bring their own packed lunch?
Yes, students are welcome to bring their own packed lunches from home. We kindly request parents to ensure home-packed lunches are healthy and strictly nut-free. The use of glass containers and microwave reheats is not supported for safety reasons.
What happens if my child is absent? Can I get a refund?
As catering services are pre-booked and staffed based on termly subscriptions, we are unable to offer refunds or credit for individual days missed due to short-term absences or illness.
Are there vegetarian or gluten-free options?
Yes, a daily hot vegetarian option is always available as part of the standard plan. For gluten-free or other specific allergen requirements, parents must submit a doctor’s report to the school clinic, and a specialized menu will be arranged.
