Welcome to the heart of the RMIS elementary experience: the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP).
Spanning from Kindergarten to Grade 6, this transformative journey is designed to nurture the whole child—not just as a student, but as an active, caring participant in a lifelong journey of learning. By placing your child at the centre of the educational process, we cultivate their natural curiosity and provide them with the tools to explore the world with an open and critical mind.
The PYP is built on a transdisciplinary framework, meaning our students explore big ideas across traditional subjects like maths, science, and language. Through six global themes—such as “Who We Are” and “How the World Works”—students engage in inquiry-based learning that connects their classroom studies to real-world issues. This approach empowers learners to take agency over their education, giving them the voice and choice to investigate what truly matters to them.
As students progress towards Grade 6, they develop the essential attributes of the IB Learner Profile, becoming principled thinkers and confident communicators. The pinnacle of this journey is the PYP Exhibition, a collaborative research project where our oldest primary students showcase their skills by tackling local or global challenges.
