Founded
Al Ruwad International School(AIS) welcomed its first cohort of students for the 2013–2014 academic year from Kindergarten to Grade 4.
Alberta Accreditation
As the status of the school strengthened, the academic year of 2016-2017 became a turning point in the course of its development, a milestone was achieved in February when the school received accreditation from the Alberta government, solidifying its status as a licensed Alberta International School.
Secondary School Opens
In August 2018 there was a significant expansion of our campus as the Secondary School opened. This housed purpose-built learning spaces for secondary students, equipped with cutting-edge, modern amenities.
First IB Continuum KG – Grade 12 School in Muscat
2021 marked an historic achievement, AIS proudly stands as the first Omani International Baccalaureate Continuum (IB) K-12 World School in Muscat, delivering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP) alongside the GED Programme from the Oman Ministry of Education.

We entered into a groundbreaking education partnership with the esteemed Ellesmere College, UK. This strategic partnership is an expression of shared desire to give students that extra edge in their learning.
A Next Chapter — Ruwad Muscat International School
RMIS has been developing and honing its philosophy and practice since our first tentative steps in 2012. In 2026-2027, we begin a new and exciting phase in our journey. As an IB Continuum School we are committed to nurturing internationally minded, global citizens. Our next chapter allows us to maintain our focus on academic excellence while having the freedom to follow our mission and prepare and inspire the next generation for the challenges and uncertainties of a rapidly changing world.
